I'm looking for a 17" LCD monitor for my wife, she does editing of documents. Price is a factor, but not the only thing. She doesn't like LCD's that are washed-out looking or the ones with a clear (glass?) cover over them, but does like some Samsung and Sony models we saw at Fry's. They don't carry 17" DVI models though, the nicer ones were all 19" and above, aka too expensive. The color should be black or silver, no beige!

1. For clarity should I definitely go with DVI, or for text can analog be on par? (The computers they have running the monitors at Fry's are junk, often not able to run the LCD's in their native resolution.)

2. What model(s) do you suggest I look at?

I like the Sony SDM-S74 so far.

Go for DVI. That way, you're almost guaranteed clear text (as long as you're running the monitor at the native resolution).

I have the sony HX73, and the text on that looks awesome. Much better than my Dell 1801FP. Make sure you use DVI, that makes a big difference with text....
