Not very well once it leaks out, drips all over your other components, and fries your PC.how would it hold up as a thermal paste?
Mercury has little more than a third of the heat capacity of water, so that wouldn't really help.Special coating within your water cooling system to keep the mercury from decaying the radiator, pump, tubing etc... Surely there is some material that would withstand it? Then just use mercury instead of water in your water cooling system?
How well do you think it would conduct heat i know since it's liquid that it would fill in the microscratches very well.
Mercury's surface tension would probably keep it from flowing out from under your heatsink if you apply the right amount.
