I received this monitor a couple of days ago and im still not happy with my settings. I just cant find a brightness etc that im happy with. I know its really down to preference but i was wondering if people could post the settings they currently have for, brightness, contrast, sharpness etc and which mode they use it for.

Hope you can help.

My contrast is set to 50, my brightness to 30; my room is usually fairly dark.

You can give 'Monitor Calibration Wizard' program a try, I've had OK results with it.

Otherwise, try googling "free monitor calibration software"; there are a few helpful programs out there.

I received this monitor with the brightness set at 90. I set it down to 50. I then did a calibration with the Spyder 2 and it brought it back up to 90 which I think is too bright.
The contrast remained at 50 and sharpness at 3.
 
Thats exactly what i was after thanks. Do you use the other modes and if so what settings did you choose for those?

I don't use any of the preset modes. I've tried "Movie" when watching a DVD, but i didn't like it. I should try "Movie" or "Dynamic" while playing a game, but I never remember to make the switch.
 
What exactly would the dynamic mode be used for, gaming? I also tend to just used the standard mode for most things.

Contrast: 10
Mode: Standard

I find this is perfect for me for web browsing/work (a dimly light room). Bright enough for daytime use and I don't have to turn it down at night time. Black detail gets crushed at this level though, so for graphics work I have to bump the settings up a bit.

I haven't gamed yet.
 
The key to calibrating this monitor is contrast - default value of 50 is WAY too high. Using my spyder2pro I was able to get great results (standard mode). My final settings are brightness 60 and contrast 2. This allows for 120 cd/m2 white point and 1.20 cd/m2 black point.

These are very good numbers for photography - which is my primary concern. I can start to see black detail at RBG 3/3/3 which is very good. Overall, this is a very good LCD.
