Anybody here actually pre order this monitor? I'm anxiously waiting for results. If it turns out to be an instant hit, then I'm buying this for myself for xmas :)

I preordered it but I'm expecting to be dissappointed with either a bad AG coating, a weak SST scaler (necessitating a thicker dp cable), or a noisy power supply like the benq bl3200pt. Its funny NCX trolled me by telling me the LG 49UB8500 is crap and how PC 4k monitors are all so much better yet I returned both the Samsung UD970 and LG 31MU97 and kept the LG 49UB8500 TV. Not a surprising turn of events as usual when people troll on the internet they dont know what they are talking about.

You mean he asked you to check for PWM? He never specifically said it was crap. PWM causes eyestrain and affects motionblur; we find it ridiculous that expensive electronics can't include something as simple as direct current when monitors half the price include it no problem. For that matter, I assure you, NCX certainly knows what he's talking about. The guy has reviewed countless monitors, and has spread his information with the vast majority of the forum.

Nope he said enjoy your crappy TV, he didn't ask me to check for anything. Also just because someone is knowledgeable in their hobby doesn't mean every statement they ever make is true.

What or who is NCX?

Anyhoo, if this monitor can do its job for $1K, who's going to buy PQ321 or Dell or Samsung for $1K more?

Yep looks like it. Originally this was due November 10 but I just contacted B&H they said indefinitely delayed, manufacturer has no stated delivery date for the item. A real shame. Looks like all that's available this year are overpriced monitors that are getting poor reviews on Amazon.

It's okay, I understand internet celebrities are just like real life celebrities. Worshiping people can make you look past all their faults and result in a double standard for behavior on the internet. It's normal human behavior.

From the same thread NCX took a dump on a TV he has no experience with, a poster who bought a monitor went a website at NCX's behest and after telling him what he saw NCX just dismisses him as illiterate. Usually when someone does something for you when you ask, you thank them for the effort, not insult them, as that's not considered socially accepted behavior in public for normal people. But of course, NCX is not a normal person, he has fans on the internet, so I understand why the double standard exists:

He does post a lot of good information, but he inserts a lot of opinion and often comes off as an ass himself. That comment that was linked was very derogatory. But it is the internet, so everyone needs to stop taking stuff so damned personally.

Why do I need experience with a monitor if I want to know if it uses PWM? How can I learn about a display if there are no reviews? Your TV has a 64ms delay (not sure how this was tested) which means I'm right about 2/3 of my assumptions.

He asked the same thing twice even though the test I linked him to explains how to interpret the test as did I, after recommending that he read the instructions.

I expect rich people signed up on a niche forum to have a certain level of intelligence and basic reading abilities. Enough with the 'woe is me' nonsense.

It seems like 2014 is a bust for 4k monitors. I mean sure they released a TON of 28 inch TN 4k monitors....but we still haven't seen a true successor to the very first IGZO 4k panels that came out almost 2 years ago. The LG 31 inch 4096x2160 monitor comes close....but I'm avoiding that, cuz I want true 4k...since I game alot.
