I'm looking for some benchmarking tools that would simulate a normal workload on a server. The company I work for we are testing out a cloud computing hyper-visor VMops. We currently have 2 templates for os Windows xp, and Centos. If someone can point me in the right direction of some benchmarking tools or something that can simulate different workloads on each OS. We are wanting to see how much we can drill the storage array and the computing servers for stability. I would like if we could have the benchmarking software to work till we tell it to stop kind of like Prime95. Thanks ahead of time for the suggestions.
 
huh...application type benchmarks for VMs, as an evaluation of the storage subsystem. on linux, you could run LinPack, on windows, you could run Sandra, and have an IOMeter instance pointed at the disk array.
