Benchmarking Dual Core systems

Is there a benchmark available that shows the relative difference between a single and dual core CPU? I understand that I can run Sandra, disable SMP and run it again and compare results, but I'm looking for something that the public would understand and accept. Maybe a 3d content creator that runs a single thread test, then a dual core test and compares them side by side.
