I just got a new Belkin UPS and when I went to plug it in I got the message, "Site Wiring Fault" in red. I don't know why it's showing that...I've never really had trouble with the electricity, think it should be ignored or should I look more into it?

That is not something to be ignored.

Three reasons for this warning:

-overloaded neutral
-reversed polarity
-missing group wire

Go to Lowes and buy a circuit tester for $5 and check to see if the UPS's findings are correct.

Alright, thanks guys, I gotta bring this up to my dad then haha. When he gets off work we'll go and I'll report anything new

Ok, my dad knows the problem. It isn't properly grounded as this is an old house. Would it still be safe/alright if I continue to use it like this? Note, I have been using my current PC with monitor and speakers alright and nothing has gone wrong *knocks on wood*

Thanks for the suggestions

It will *probably* continue to operate, but I know with APC units they will ask if the SWF light was on before a failure. I can't guarantee that they'll dishonor the warranty if it was on, but that would be my guess.

You really should think about getting a properly grounded circuit, its NOT a good idea to be without a ground (for protection purposes, such as a short, lightning surge, etc).
