Ill be building my first system this summer.

Funny how plans turn out.....................

Im going to do my homework this time around. And want to learn all about Bios/Vista settings, before I build the new system.

My current system:

Vista Biz_64bit
Q600
4GB's DRR2 800mhz
RaptorX hdd
Quadro 1700

By far need to learn the proper way to install hardware and run Vista. And trobleshooting skills.

Q6600? 4GB? Vista? What will you need to upgrade? You already have a decent system :cool:

As for your question, Im gonna shoot and say by bios settings you mean overclocling? ;) What do you need to know? Its simple as 400X10=4000mhz on a 400mhz strap which brings the ram to fsb speeds which turns into 800mhz. That simple :cool:

Installing hardware? Again very simple. Depending on what hardware to install.

I wouldn't mind helping you out, just be more specific :cool:
 
oh cool, just out of curiosity you doing anything with cuda?

anyways, your talking about something thats 6 months off. By that time I expect to have AMDs Montreal (6core CPU) and Lil' Dragon (RV870 GPU), Intels 32nm Nehalem, and Nvidia's next gen GT212 (40nm) out as products, so its going to be a very different market. Planning anything this far ahead of time isn't going to help you.

Bios's really arnt that complicated (hence the name, Basic Input-Output system), all your going to need to do is change boot priority (if that).

and installing hardware, start with the motherboard, doesnt really matter which order you do things after that. If you want slick cable management you can put the PSU in first and map the cables to where they need to go, and then pin them between the motherboard and the backplate (if they fit). Makes things look snazzy, maybe helps airflow a bit, doesn't do much else.
 
Im looking into mild OC'ing and bit more knowlegable about the BIOS. I had some memory problems with my curent system awhile back.

Guess, just had some bad luck with my Quadro system.

And I need a seccond system, to run what I cant runn on my Quadro.

And Mr. Wiz answered my questions about whats coming out by this summer....



Will Intels 32nm Nehalem still be a Hyperthreded 4core or will we get a true 8core soon?
(edit, did some homework this tim. Westmere. that would work.)
