Before I pull the trigger, why is this x-Rite Eye One Display 2 so much cheaper?

Wow - that's a whole $50 less than on amazon. I ordered one recently and I am yet to receive it. This is being heavily discounted since they are launching follow-up models (as I unfortunately learnt after placing my order):

Here is a review:

i1 Display Pro replaces i1 Display 2 and Colormunki Display seems to replace i1 Display LT. The obvious updates include the new software and support for a wider range of display technologies. Being new, there are a couple of rough edges.

The i1 Display 2 is still a great product and given the CCFL-backlit monitor I have, it should serve me just well. It also has good support with third party calibration software. Given the discounts, you can consider buying i1D2 if your monitors are supported.

Since I plan to get LED backlit displays, I should be looking at the i1 Display Pro instead right? Darn, the calibrator costs as much as the monitor I plan on purchasing :\

Perhaps, if you can afford it - it is fairly new, so we are yet to see how good the hardware is.

The older i1D2 has mixed reviews w.r.t LED backlit monitors and it looks like it has some deviation with color temperature for LED backlit monitors. Hopefully, others here can share their experience if they have used i1D2 for LED backlit monitors.
