I have recently brought a PCP&C Psu, however it came with a US Plug, which wont fit in Nz Sockets, I just want to confirm, which wire is which, before I rewire a New Plug on.

The wire colours are Black/ White and Green, which I presume are US coded :confused:

Nz wire colours are Blue/Brown and Yel/Grn, being Positive/ Netural/ Earth.
I would hate to burn the house down, or even worst burn out PC ;)

I'm pretty sure that you need to flip a little red switch to 240v and also get a new power cord from Dick Smith (Dick Smack as I like to call them) or somewhere to go from the wall to the PSU. I just moved to NZ so hello my fellow Kiwi :)

well there isnt a red switch
it will autosense the AC Voltage, either 115V (US) or 330 (NZ) and automatically adjust itself

as far as the wires
Black = Hot
White = Neutral
Green = Ground

Well Welcome to the land of Milk and Honey, Boss, hope you enjoy the life down Under :D, the reason I wanted to keep the power cord that came with the Psu was that it look like a good quality one, with heavy duty wire strands.

Ice thanks for the Info, confirmed what I have managed to find out on the web, since posting **sigh of relief**. All the best and keep up the Great work. I must say that this has been one of the most informative, and useful forums I have been on.

It is reflected in the calibre of the moderator, who knows his stuff, and is prepared to help out with the basic's, and the helpfulness of ppl posting here. :)

well your welcome :p

those cords are indeed very high quality
I assume you'll be retailing it with an equally high quality plug ;)

Hmmm High qual plug, I went to the Local electrical supplier and although it is heavy duty, it doesn't appear much different than normal plugs :mad: . I notice the cable is rated for 15 amps which prob is why it is extra thick. Unfort the 15amp plugs available wont fit in normal socket, so I could only get 10amp which is standard, and I don't know where else to try, the local electronic shop, Dick Smith doesn't carry anything better either :(

well they say when you cant solve the problem
change the problem

in this case that would be the outlet to fit the better plug
not that youd even actually draw that many amps 230VAC
but the lack of resistance is nice

I think your good any way you jump
that plug or a better one ;)

the current outlet is likely matched to the amp capacity of the interior wiring
so altering the plug largely pointless

And did you know that there are only 20 million people living in NZ while 90 million sheeps live there too! Whoa! Don't piss off your fellow sheeps! :p

I apologize for my other side's wackiness.

I like a country that puts up statues to honor the role of the sheep dog as a national hero :D

Nice to see people are able to make comments about sheep, other than the usual slant taken;)

Well Ice, they say a Dog is mans best friend :D
