BB & Me Today

I went to BB today to get the BFG6800OC + Farcry bundle that is advertised for $255 right now. When I walked down the isle a 20 year old or so was looking at vid cards. He was about to pick up another 9800 pro because the one he just bought last week from there FAILED. I leaned over and said "you realize you can get double the fames for the same price". His comment was how? I pointed to the BFG. He was like "Cool". I explained how about the 9800 pro "was" really good about a year ago then the X800 series and the 6800 series came out and rewrote the book on performance. He was happy and I was happy that I indrectly saved somebody some money.

Then Mr Salesman comes by and says "you know the 9800 pro is faster than the 6800. The 6800 is three series behind the 9800." I gave him the "what?!?!" stare and left. The other kid followed me with his own 6800 card as well. I just couldn't even begin to figure out how to respond to the BB employee.

I usually try not to listen to the BB employees for fear of becoming dumber. I stopped by to buy a digital camera for my Dad the other month (didn't feel like waiting for an online site). As I picked up one of the Canon SD110s, the employee informed me that if I didn't buy one of the memory card readers, there's no way for me to get the pictures off of the camera. I already own a Canon S330, so I answered, "Wow, that's amazing, I guess all of the pictures I've been transferring with the included USB cable must be imaginary then."

When I went and picked up my own BFG 6800 OC I also had to deal with some BB morons... At my local store, they hadn't marked down the sale yet, so it was still $305. I told them about the online deal, they said they'd match it, but had to find it first. We walked over to the store computer to look online... and 5 minutes later we found it. Now, 5 minutes may not sound like a long time, but the problem was... he couldn't navigate the store's own website. I relate his struggles with a 5 year old learning the alphabet. After 5 minutes, my hands had almost ripped apart the beautiful piece of hardware I held in my hands and I was forced to show him how to use a mouse.

Stupid people... great store.

Chances are that they want to offload the 9800 pros now. It really bugs me when store employees outright lie.

It's always a really good idea to print out the "deals" before going into Bestbuy or where ever. That 6800 is a really good deal atm.

Funny, I went to apply at a best buy a couple years ago. The man asked what department/s I wanted to work in, I told him I'm most knowledgeabe in audio/video, car stereos and computers. SEVEN interviews later I find out he's going to try and stick me in appliances....which I know nothing about. To top that off after the seventh interview he asked if I would submit a drug test, the first thing I was going to do after I left was get stoned.

I was so friggin pissed....

7 interviews? Sounds like the fish just keeps getting bigger and bigger. The drug test is mandatory by the way. So I worked for BBY over the summer and it was gay as hell. They never make us lie they just tell us shit like, "we really need to move these 9800pros so if the customer recongizes the ATi name just give them something they are familiar with." The discount was superb though. I got my BFGTech 6800OC 128mb for $218 a week before they were put on the shelves.
