The game where you kick god into the sun and keep going. So I just finished it this morning and it's actually pretty awesome. Not quite sue what was up with the story, maybe some sort of existential cyclical reality... thing. But the game was awesome. If you like things that go over the top and keep one upping themselves you'll love this game.

I'm playing through it right now as well. The story is just crazy stupid. At least it has good action to make up for it.

working on beating it on hard now

yes the story is ridiculous but it fits how utterly crazy the game is

You might want to be cool and put SPOILER WARNING at the top of your thread. The story isn't really a big deal since it's your typical Japanese WTF is going on, 90% of the time, but just a thought.

I really liked this game, beat it the other day, and I thought it did a good job of being holy-shit-look-at-that without being too much of a ball breaker most of the time. There were some places where I wasn't using the right technique and died quite a bit, but overall awesome.

The controls are so tight in that game for all that they give you the ability to do, I was impressed.

I did find the cutscenes to be tortuous most of the time.

That really sounds like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. I'm sure its not related, but the way you described it is pure TTGL.:p

Well the very first line, essentially, as thats the last thing you do, not counting the small clean-up you do and the slightly interactive credit roll levels.

Although, really, and I mean really, you can pay attention in this game and still not understand whats going on.

it's the epitome of crazy bullshit, japan style. Some of the cut scenes are so bad and so long that you could use them to interrogate enemies of the state. Literally, after playing the prologue, and up to the point where you fight on the crashing plane in that level, I put the game down for a few days and almost didn't play it at all, based solely on the length and quality of the first few cut scenes.

Why they thought that blending Joe Pesci's characters from GoodFellas and Lethal Weapon 2 was a good idea I'll never know.

I couldn't get past the demo because of it. Loved the gameplay but I have to know what the hell is going on in the game to fully enjoy it.

yeah I must say I was quite turned off by the demo.
My friend played it while I watched. He said he enjoyed it mainly using the argument that the controls are the same as DMC4.
For me tho, all I saw was a whole lot of Chaos and nonsense. I think there was just too much shit going on, and the characters, and settings and story are SOOOOOO over the top that I just didn't care for it...

I just picked this up for PS3 knowing full well what I was getting myself into and I can't say I'm disappointed gameplay-wise. I've read the 360 version not only looks better but has almost twice the FPS. Not sure if the patch made any difference but its a shame Sega dropped the ball on this port.

I am still lost at how people don't understand the story.

With that said, I LOVED Bayonetta.

im digging it. It's mindless fun with sexual flair. I like crazy stuff in games.

Any game where the main character spins on a axe handle and shoots guns from her heels is just pure win.

Reminds me of Planet Terror and the chick with a gun for a leg. Badass.

The taunt button serves as both the greatest and yet most useless button in the game.

The game's pretty awesome though!

Actually, the taunt button is quite necessary for some of the Alfheim portals.
