Hey all, been playing BF 3 for a couple weeks now. I am trying to figure out if there is a pro player's guide to weapons out there. I am trying to figure out what are the best weapons in the game to even my chances at survival. ALSO, Not sure what weapons have been boosted or nerfed since the latest patch released on 12/13. I have googled and found some statistics but a guide where the weapons were actually used would be better. Anyone know where I can find something like that?

its really up to what weapons you like the most.. since the recent patch a lot of the weapon advantages/disadvantages have changes and since my cousin scratched my disc and ruined it i only got about 6 hours of play time in with the new patch.
the m249 is no longer the best LMG in the game now, that i know for sure. the SCAR is still insanely accurate but has been nurfed slightly from the old version.. the SG553's still a beast. the L96 sniper rifle you get doing the achievements is awesome. the MAV's are stupid as hell and are to easy to use to kill people now. thats pretty much all i can tell you from the 6 hours i got to play with the new patch(lets just say the MAV's are the reason my disc is scratched if that gives you any idea about how screwed up they are).

So I am trying to find the best engineer weapon. They all seem underpowered to me. I read that weapon of choice for the engineer is the M4, A-91, or the SG553. However if you are looking at statistics alone, comparing those three weapons, the M4 comes out on top. Statistics and number dont always tell the whole story and I was trying to find out what engineer SMG is most effective.

When you get the G53 (unlock through the new assignment's) you'll never use those again. I always used the A-91 and M4 until I got the G53 with Holo,Grip,Silenced.

statistically the M4A1 isn't really that close to the 553/53. its just a good long range weapon and thats it.. the 553 and 53 have the advantage due to the rate of fire and their accuracy.. you can pretty much do a full auto burst with the 553 or 53 from 50m away and hit a quarter with every bullet. the M4's you can do that.. the bullet spread gets nuts past 50m but in 3 round or single round firing the m4's have much better accuracy at long range.

Thanks for the replies. Alright, I unlocked the G53 tonight. I looked at the stats for the G53 and the M4A1 and it the M4A1 looks like it would be a better weapon. M4A1/M4 has a better ROF and recoil according to http://symthic.com/?s=bf3

M16a3 is my personal favorite. IMO, it is the best all around gun in the game cause it does everything well. I just unlocked the scoped. 44 and it might take the G18's spot as my favorite sidearm

M16a3 is for the Assault class, what you use for the Engineer class? I haven't had a chance to try out the G53 but I have been getting killed a lot with the G36.
The only problem with using the M16A3 is that it swaps you to the AK74M when you switch teams at the end of a round. So annoying, and god forbid you forget and have to use that, heh.

.44 scoped is good when you don't have a long range primary weapon.. eg using a shotgun but you need to be able to hit a guy 100+ meters away.. other then that the G18 suppressed is still the best all around pistol in my opinion.
