And why not? BF2 had 1 expack called Special Forces for $30 (had 9 maps and tons new vehicles and weapons), and 2 "Booster packs" (aka DLC) called EuroForce and Armored Fury that each had 3 maps, a couple new vehicles and weapons and cost $15 each. All this was in 2005-2006 before COD made DLC ubiquitous.
$$$
I am not sure if I agree with holding game content hostage for money unless you agree to buy the game before it's even released. Not all consumers are going to gobble up what EA sold them.
I played the game for several hours last week, then switched back to BC2 and skyrim because of the horrific amount of aimbots, wallhacks, and general game/battlelog bugs. I'm glad I only wasted $30 instead of the $60 they wanted for the game before release.
I voiced my reservations on this and other internet forums, and was greeted with a chorus of "it works perfectly fine" and "battle log is great". Now that I've googled my issues and found others having the same problems, it seems like people were either lying to me or to themselves about the quality of the game.
In my hours of play, it became clear to me that EA does not give two shits about balance, community, quality assurance, and (with the re-release of old maps for $15) continued support of the game. Unless, of course, you keep tossing them money.
The EA Defense Force doesn't share my opinion, I'm sure, but I know what I expected from the game and it has most certainly not delivered.
It's been a while, but are the battleships still usable in terms of using the guns and moving it closer to land?
ship movement stopped in BF2, and I believe there was only the carrier.
mmmm...Wake.... GOOD TIMES! (hold that airfield ffs!)

Really?Maybe you're just bad?
Politics? Aimbots, bugs, wallhacks, and balance issues are not political. Those are from the actual game.Funny that people who actually enjoy playing the game rather than endlessly bitching about the politics of it on forums need to be given a deragatory name.
Really?
I was playing with a friend who was cheating on a PB protected server. I know there are plenty of working cheats because of the screenshots he sends me and how I can follow him into a room and he headshots three people with pistols before they have time to think. He uses Artificial Aiming, which doesn't get automatically detected. You basically have to have someone from dice directly observing you to get a ban.
He's been using AA for a long time, and was able to quickly point out what types of hacks others were using. It was a real eye-opener. Most people who were cheating weren't going 55-2 (although there were a couple of those every so often) because they didn't want to make it obvious, but they led the boards pretty much constantly and never stuck around more than 2-3 games.

Having spent my own money on the game, I have a vested interest in its success; my only wish is that EA would indicate that they feel the same way.I would say "welcome to the world of modern online gaming" and find reputable gaming community servers [...] but you seem more interested in complaining about the game than giving it a fair shake
