Battlefield 2142 Connection Problem

Hey guys. I just bought Battlefield 2142 and I'm having two problems.. First off.. it won't patch from v1.06 to v1.10. Second.. Whenever I connect to a server, I get to the point of right before it shows the class options and then it gives me this message "There is a problem with your connection." Now I have tried just about everything, unlocking ports, updating punkbuster, etc... I'm at a loss. If anyone can shed some light on the problem, I would be greatly appreciative.

Pull a search on Hardforum here and you'll find some answers to this problem.

The easiest option is to remove your router from your network and connect straight to your modem.

There are other options, tho.

Unfortunately, I dont' have that option. My wireless cable router/modem is downstairs. And I am on a wireless connection. I have had no problems with any other online games in the past and I don't see why that would cause a problem now. : \

Are you running on a multicore processor? There are some problems with bf2142 and multicore processors and I had a similar connection lost like you when i first put together my dual core opteron rig. What you can do to see if your problem is the processor, is open task manager then going to processes and right clicking the bf2142 process and setting the affinity to only one core. this should solve your problems if it is a multicore issue.

check this thread for some more stuff:

of note: a friend of mine had a similar issue and used the optimizer and it ended up bsoding constantly on startup but he uses the amd drivers just fine.

if you have an intel processor you'll have to do some digging

if you have a single core processor i don't know then =P running any torrents? those really screw with connection stability

Uninstall BF2 then install 1.10 next.And I don't think BF2142 likes wireless..

I have only had connection problems with this game, too. I think it was just bad coding on BF2142's part, and somehow related to the statstracking.

You can try to turn your router to a DMZ. There should be an option in your router to do so. This worked for me, and is the only thing out of everything I tried that worked. Its not the most secure option, but I haven't had any problems doing it. If you are so motivated, you could just toggle the setting when playing the game and change it back when done.
