Looks great, the G3 and sniper accuracy were my biggest complaints. Also NO MORE BUNNY HOPPING! w00t

Though I hope they don't overpower these weapons.

Yea it seems like they are doing a good job at trying to kill the air element in this game.

The anti-air guns are freaking worthless against fighter planes.

Anti-Air. The Anti-Armor (Tow I believe) don't lock, they simply allow you to direct them after launch.

unfortunately no. They said no dolphin diving. That's bunny hopping and lying prone at the same time. Doesn't say anything about bunny hopping.

It's because people seem to want to fire off their whole clip in a pass. Afterwards they're left with less than a full clip and a bit nervous about not having enough for the next run. So they tend to just fire the shots off into the air so they can reload.

But it's a rare occurence for all 14 missiles to fire at once, usually if you're aimed down at a target, you'll be passing them quickly, too quickly to exhaust the rounds.

Basically they're just helping you reload after a run instead of manually firing at random to reload.

i refuse to play this game until that "feature" is implemented.

I know, that damn button, along with "update servers", is so damn annoying because they just break the damn browser.

You gonna let a minor glitch stop you from playing this awesome game?

There is a workaround, just don't select more than six checkboxes and the browser
will work on hitting the update/apply/refresh button.
 
while these alleged patch notes remove the ability for leetdudes to hop around and kill with the noob tube, they dont seem to indicate that bunny hopping itself will be removed. frankly I dont seem to get killed terribly often by people while actually hopping. To me, the "defensive hopping" is far worse because they can easily stop jumping and strike back once you run out of ammo.

so im hoping they limit jumping so you need say 3 to 5 bars of stamina to jump, or put a timer so you can only jump once every 5 seconds.

if they also gave the tubes a minimum range or in some other way nerfed them, this would be just about a perfect patch.

Each hop should eat 30-40% of your stamina, or maybe your hop timer idea. The funny thing is the hopping just suddenly started. Gameplay was pretty hop free for a good while there.

I think the rockets, (the SLAW(sp) not the TOW) are very well balanced in the game. They do very little splash dmg to players. I dont under stand how limiting their range is important. How are you being hit at long range by a slow moving rocket? Just move. The splash will not k you.

The server list works pretty good, but maybe Im lucky. I let it populate 1000 servers and then stop it. Then I sort by ping and choose away.

You can't have more than 5 filters on. That is what causes it. Take off filters until you only have 5 and your update server will work.
 
I'm so happy they're taking out the "dolphin diving." Nothing makes me want to kick someone in the face more than when everytime I see them, they're diving prone in the air like superman with a gun.

i guess i consider bunny hopping defensive. I've never been killed by anybody bunny hopping. That would be kind of hard to aim wouldn't it? And that patch notes don't say anything about taking out bunny hopping. like i mean it anyways.

I personally have kept playing, but plain and simply why shouldn't it work? I see NO reason besides the developers being to lazy to fix it for it being a problem. I personally have not owned a single game besides BF2 that has had any problem with an ingame browser as bad as this. I mean, at least Quake 4 could refresh, even if initially it could only show 1000 servers and lagged towards the end (a bug they fixed pretty quick I might add)

I just don't see any reason to have to screw around with filters just to make the damn thing work. I'm just happy they added in the ability to join via flags at runtime, that way I can just use an 3rd party server browser.

I don't want to restate what's been written on different forums and threads. There are issues with performance and profiles.

Instead of saying 1.12 prevented people from playing. I should have said it made things worse, like making me have to make a new profile everytime I start the game because I have my "My Documents" folder redirected to a networked drive...

And I used to love Battlefield 2.
 
You're right... the browser should work but maybe it's a gamespy issue that DICE has no control over? :confused:

No, its the client itself, because I don't know of any 3rd party server browsers that have the problem. If it was really a master server issue, then they should have problems as well.
 
Things I'd like to see:
-Scroll wheel in server browser
-Being able to type at the end of a game. Sh** talking at the end of a game is the best!
-Clicking points on a map and actually spawning there without having to click them 20x times
-Menu taking forever to load/get out of when you accidentally press ESC

-Remove the CD check. Gah I hate these things.

The RAM won't fix that problem. I've got 2gb with a 7800GT and San Diego 3700. The "lag" you speak of is the way the menu was designed. Nothing will fix it. It's just slow.

oops, my bad. I misread it as lag when quitting out of a game. Yes, the menu is slow no matter what. I think that has more to do with the servers talking with each other though.
 
my feelings towards the patch changes, from a long time BF player:

Helicopter now carry 8 missiles rather than 14 - kinda sucks, rockets weren't that good to begin with.
TV-Guided missile now have a shorter range - not really a problem for me, never sniped with them anyways I prefer to let my gunner see the target before firing.
Hit points on all air vehicles has been reduced - kinda good, jets will be easier to shoot down, but helis don't really need this nerf
AA missile lock has been improved - crossing fingers, they said they "fixed" them in the last patch too
Support kits have had their primary weapons adjusted for accuracy - dunno, sometimes I get owned by support sometimes I don't, hopefully this means prone has slightly better accuracy.
Sniper kits have had their primary weapons adjusted for accuracy - good, we needed this especially for the .50 unlock, it has notoriously bad accuracy
Anti-Tank kits have had their primary weapons adjusted for accuracy - good, smgs are weak so better accuracy can only help, though I really only use the DAO-12 since I unlocked it so I never use the smgs.
“Dolphin Diving” is no longer possible - good, this was annoying, but sometimes was nice to jump over a sandbag and prone to avoid enemy fire
Players can no longer jump and shoot at the same time - great! pretty annoying to get grenade lauched by some hopping fool from 3 feet.
“Prone Spamming” is now fixed - can only be a good thing
“Sprint exploit” is now fixed - a necessary change
The Sa80 weapon has been improved good
The G3A3 weapon has been improved - accuracy was never a problem for me with this gun, I kill snipers all the time with it, especially on single shot, I just hope they gave it more ammo and/or a larger clip
Reload while sprinting has been enabled - good
Chinese and MEC APCs can now shoot through penetrable materials - good but sad, no more taunting APCs on the other side of a chain link fence, lol
Damage decreased for the M134 - this is the BH gun, I can understand the reasoning, but would have prefered the MEC transport chopper's guns just get a boost in power instead of the BH getting a nerf
Medic defibrillator paddles have been adjusted. They now reload while not in use. great! really annoying to revive a teammate, kill an enemy, and then have to wait for the damn shock paddles to recharge

hopefully we'll see some kind of bug fixes before the actual release.

That's not what I meant... I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe DICE licenses the browser from gamespy. So gamespy needs to fix it since they develop the middleware... Of course that is no excuse.
