Battlefield 2 lockup

Well I guess if you wait 45 min or so, you will be logged on lol. You can make a single player accound and play that way. I wonder if EA knows of this problem, since they havnt said anything about it, and been going for about 6 hours now or so.

I started loading in and it was hanging there, my women jumped in the shower and i ran in after her. Well when i got out after about 15 mins or so, Ya i lasted longer then usual must have been the burritos i ate, it was finally logged in. I hate EA!

Same problem here.. Still going on 1 pm satuday. I did get in once this morning and non of my weapon unlocks showed and when I entered a vehicle the left and right controls didnt work. EA DAMN YOU

I'm at work, so I have not tried to login. I do know that clicking on "BFHQ" last night locked my machine. Also, sites like BF2S.com seem to have lost their XML feed from EA - again. Sounds like EA dropped the ball again, big suprise.

I went and took a dump and came back then it was logged in.

But were you able to play? Were there even any people on the servers?

I am having a major problem with BF2. Out of no where it suddenly said one day (a day right after I had played the game) that the CD was not in and that I had to disable CD/DVD Emulation. I have done everything possible including changing my fucking drives to PIO mode (what is that mode BTW?) and installing the ASPI crap agian.
Atop of that I took my emulation down and even made an ISO of my BF2 disc and tried taht. Tried burnign the Disc and using that. Reinstalled the game didnt work.
My login always works but the game just doesnt.
Specs in my Sig BTW please help me out.

Any ISO mounting software has to be disabled for bf2 to work... it's part of thier anit-piracy scheme. You have to have the cd in a real cd reading device and have things like daemontools or nero's iso mounting stuff disabled to run bf2.

I am also having the incredibly slow login times. I know this is custom code that is being improved, but for the price we all paid for bf2 (and special forces), ea should have a test lab for this environment that mirrors production (or at least close), with hacked clients that allow for scripting to test load. If you can't test, you will have outages. There's no other way around it in the IT world.

It's just saddening that they just can't seem to get it, and yet they inist on being completely at the helm for thier ranking system. This makes me wonder if anyone else has created a meta ranking system for bf2 outside of EA's. It wold be pretty easy to put together some python or perl to munge logs from the server and develop your own ranking system. I haven't researched what's available, but it would be nice to have a distributed system with each server having keys that are in a ranked (and weighted) community trust system to help keep out the stats padders and such. I guess you'd have to dig into the game engine a bit to be able to do selective unlocks according to priveledge with the ranking system, but it should be well within the reach of a decent programmer, *so long as the "allow global unlocks" would still allow for server controlled restrictions of weapons on a player by player basis..

Just rambling now...

I have done that allready, everything is down and off in the Emulation scene on my computer. I have the real CD. One day I was playing and quite literaly the next day I woke and tried to play and no dice.
It just does not work no matter what I do.

I have heard of so many problems with the 1.12 patch from friends who say it just 'doesn't work' that I am not even trying. See sig.

I've had this problem before and I'm having it now. Most likely server maintenance either through Gamespy or EA. Kind of a bad time since this is when most people have time to play.

Not true, I run Daemon tools and Nero Image Drive and have no problems logging in. Just don't plan on fooling BF2 into thinking your mounted ISO is the real BF2 DVD/CD, you need the real thing.

I usually log in a matter of seconds ..but this morning ..I let it go for 10 minutes or so ..then ctrl-alt-deleted my way out and just played offline with just me and 64 of my buds..

yay for sad existances!

Unless you use those *cough* "fixed" ISOs. Those work great! (Yes, I do own the full game. It's still nice to not have to use CDs; I hope what I just said doesn't violate the forum rules about cracking...).

And yeah, I just called EA, and through many transfers, I finally talked to someone who said it's an issue that should be fixed within the next 1-2 hours..../cry

Let us know when it goes back to normal guys. I'm linking this to the frontpage with a post to let everyone know.

I read this thread and then went to play SF. It took 2 min to log on then as soon as the map loaded, the game crashed. I rebooted. Took two min again and everything was fine. Played for about 2 hours and when I tried to leave the server and check my stats since I won a few awards but I got hung up. I had to ctrl+alt+del out and retried. Gave up after 10 min of trying to log back on. Once again this is further ammo for the anti-EA people like me.

I am having the same problem's. Takes FOREVER for me to log in and that's if i do. It sometimes goes in and sometimes it doesen't

Ya i love when you work all week and wnat to unwind buy driveing your Truck fulled with C-4 into a spawn and you cant. At least i got my Xbox360 to look at cuz im completely bored of it all ready.

good, im glad its everyone, cause i was about to reinstall everything. Gotta love Hardocp, thanks for putting it up! Cheers

This has happened before in the past.

Last time it took about a day to get fixed here in the UK.

I say a day, but what I mean is; it wasn't until the next day that I noticed it got sorted.

UPDATE!

For now, at least, I can log on, and get a server list. But joining any game freezes BF2/BF2:SF. Also, I cannot create any multiplayer games using the in-game or the "dedicated" server client.

But some people are just totally weird too....... WEIRDO! :p

I'm having the same problem. I thought I mistakenly clicked the "Play Online" icon instead, which takes an ungodly amount of time to connect. Obviously it's a server issue. I made it on earlier but none of my weapons were unlocked and this was a server that allowed unlocks. I wish they'd have server messages on their site. I'm sure many people have reinstalled thinking it was a problem on their end.

Yes I have visions of this too.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that is going through this.

UPDATE II

I can now play fine. It takes ~5 minutes to log in, and the server browser is slow, but I can play.

Anyone else care to post an update on their end of the spectrum?

I just logged in too. took about 15 seconds, which is way higher than normal. The server browser did seem a little slow at updating, but its not too bad at all.

As a side note, the official ea servers, which i am partial to, are no longer stuck on strike at karkand for vanilla bf2! yay!
