what type of rechargable batteries and charger would you recommend for my new Canon A75.
 
NiMH are the way to go.

If you're looking for something fast and local go to Target and grab a Energizer 30 minute 4AA charger (with 4 1850mAh AA) for $28. Then you can grab 4 2300mAh Energizer AAs for $8.99 (might be 9.99). Use the 2300's as your primary batteries and the 1850s as spares.

Please pay attention to the rating on the batteries. I've seen Energizer 1850s, 2100s and 2300s all on the shelf mixed in (same price), so you gotta be careful to what you're getting in the pack
 
I have around 30 of the 2250mah batteries linked by BB Gun and they are pretty good. They all work, but I havn't tested their battery life (not worried about it though). The only problem with them is that they are slightly larger and may not fit into a tight space (I can hardly get them out of my computer's mouse).
