Basic Gaming Card Help

Hi, I don't really play games but want to start to play COD4 again, and possibly the newer one(s) if I get around to it. I haven't played COD4 since my Core2Duo desktop, so it may work fine on my "old" system from last year... here's the info.

Right now my old/game/desktop is an i7 non-sb, 6gb ram, 80gb g2 ssd, Gigabyte ATI CrossFireX ATX Motherboard GA-X58A-UD3R and 2x EVGA 01G-P3-N959TR GeForce 9500 GT 1GB DDR2 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card. I only got the 2nd so I could use 3-4 monitors while working.

I need to replace the video cards with ATI cards as I want the Display Port so I can use it with my 27" Cinema Displays plug-n-play easy, and I also want to be able to play COD4, and the newer CODs. I`m not sure which ATI card to get as I've never really went that direction.

Keep in mind this is not my primary system, and when not gaming on it then it will just sit, local mysql/php test server, and a system for family/friends to use when they are over. So I don't want to drop a ton on the video card. I only need 1 card, as again not my primary system, and I have no need for 2x27 or 3+ monitors anymore from this system.

Keep in mind though, I will be gaming at 2560x1440 on the 27". So I want to be able to play at that resolution, and I only need 1 card.

Can I get a kickass card for COD w/display port for <200 ??
Would 2x cheaper cards be even better ?

What are my options ? I have an Antec 850w PSU so I think I can handle 2 newer cards as long as they aren't high-end.

Ok, let me have it :D

Antec CP-850 850 Watt CPX Power Supply Unit for Antec Twelve Hundred, P183 and P193

I'd go with any 6870 sapphire has then cheapest atm I believe

Should be around $160 after rebate and $180 before

Good to know guys.

Any brand to stay away from or a great one to get?
One with a great fan?
I don't mind paying 10-30 more for one that will last longer, have a great fan, and keep it cooler.!!

I`m not planning on running 2 of them, but for some reason if I want to this card can run with another one for even better performance right ?

Just wait and buy one 2gb 6950, The 2gb will help a lot on the 1440p resolution. And Im sure you can find one FS on the [H].

A 150$ 6850 1gb will maxCOD4, and the newer Call of duty's at 1440p easy, you do not need a 2gb card..

Then what happens when someone pops that million dollar question?

"But will it play crysis?"

Don't worry about it if you don't get it...

Amazon.com sold out Powercolor ATI 6950 2GB yesterday. A single GTX 480 is good enough for 1080. 2nd option is 5970 or crossfire ATI 6870.

Check out this deal on Newegg right now:

XFX 6870 w/ Free Shogun 2
Use promo code XFX719 ($10 off)

Total cost $186.99, minus $30 MIR. Register the card ASAP and get a free code for DiRT3.

For $156.99 after MIR, you have an XFX 6870 w/ lifetime warranty, and codes for Shogun 2 and DiRT 3 that you can either use or try to sell for an extra $10-15 each.

EDIT: Just realized the link in my original post went to the 6870, not the combo w/ Shogun 2. I hope you caught that
