I,m wanting to put together a new computer. Would like to start with a barebones system. Case and power with mob and proc already installed. Would add os and other parts from my present computer. Where would be a good place on the internet to check out.(bit apprehensive starting from scratch) Thanks for any suggestions.

Yeah, I agree that newegg has good barebones. However, it's usually more expensive than putting the case/motherboard/powersupply together yourself. But, of course, it's easier.

Shuttle barebones seem like a good place to start. They are very simple to work with, and damn good systems to boot (no pun intended).

Definatly, buy a low-end Shuttle and put a Barton 2500+ in it. And it doesn't come pre-installed but everything is there. Its suprisingly simple though, especialy if the motherboard has a good manual.

check out pricewatch.com. they have incredibly cheap barebones listed there.

I purchased my new shuttle from newegg a month ago or so ... installation is incredibly simple. That kinda takes all the fun out of it, really, but it runs so good I don't have the heart to complain. The instructions are step by step, in color. Best instructions I've ever seen for building a computer.

The intel versions that shuttle makes are good too, don't lock yourself into just looking at AMDs.
