BPST is a straight tapered thread
BSPP is straight or parallel thread (also known as a Witworth thread)

G 1/4" thread which is BSPP is not the same as BPST (Tapered) to my understanding. While technically it would work, you may have to tape the threads as there may be more play screwing a BPST into a BSPP fitting.
