Thanks! Part of the requirements of the program is that the teams use 10hp Briggs and Stratton motors which they can not modify.

Teams are comprised of engineering (and sometimes "other") college students that have specific tasks they must complete at yearly competitions including a 4 hour long wheel to wheel endurance race.

I participated in a similar program when I was in school called Formula SAE. This was the "on road" Formula 1 style car which could use any motor up to 600cc (Think: sport bike) and they could be modified. These cars typically achieve ~70-80hp but DO NOT race wheel to wheel.
