Hello people

Finally back after a long BAD time. I can reclaim my 2P 6172 machine for a reasonable price, and hopefully now have an internet connection that will support big WUs. I have a couple of questions....

Will the 2P 6172 meet deadlines? Or would a CPU upgrade be needed? Suggestions? Price is not a problem, but this is a non OC-able Tyan board running Win 7 Pro.

My main machine is now going. I have the i7 3770s doing standard smp. This machine also has a GTX 660 Ti, but I can't stand the lag when running the GPU v7 client. Is there a driver or setting that reduces this? Daily use machine.

If you can turn it into dedicated Linux folder (new musky's install is a breeze) it will meet
deadlines of all BA units.

Put linux on the bigadv machine and it should be fine.

On the 3770k use the latest version of v7 and set the power to medium or low, this will mean the GPU is only used when the machine is un-used.

It might be close on P8101. I think it will make it. As long as the MC chips are as efficient as the 8400, you'll be OK. If they are less efficient, it will be really, really close.

I say this based core for core, clock for clock 8400 vs 6200. The 8400 is faster. But I never got my 6100 ES 12-core chips to fold stable, so I have no metric for 6100 low ghz performance.

I'll try the GPU at lower setting on this box. The server is rarely used. It has SSD Win 7 but I can change that easily enough. I'll get a new drive and do the new "musky install". I want to try the big units. It makes about 40-50k ppd on smp. My old ISP wasn't good enough for BA units. The 4P 6168 machine was really wasted before I sold it. I miss that puppy....

hahaha yeah bags is little out of style. I can't believe 15 of the top 20 are over 1 Mll ppd. Unbeleivable and one hell of an effort by these people. Huge props to them!!!
