Although January is traditionally a slow sales month to begin with, it looks like next-gen console numbers are pretty disappointing in Japan this week.

The data, from Media Create Co., put PlayStation 3 sales at 25,531 units for the week ending Jan. 14. Overall the entire market for newly launched consoles was poor, with total sales of the PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 hitting an estimated 128,274 units. That's the lowest week in sales since Nintendo Co.'s Wii launched in Japan on Dec. 2 and made the market a three-console race.

Perhaps many people, other then myself, had car problems.

Horrible week for the Wii still moved 93,708 units in Japan.

10 times more than the Xbox 360. MS can not break into the Japanese market no matter how hard it tries.
 
I'm going to have to say the Wii numbers are so low because there are none available anywhere!! The PS3 is hilarious, as I now see them on the shelves of my local London Drugs and Futureshop and they are going NOWHERE.
 
No kidding, if I could *find* a WII I'd have purchased one. But apparently retailers don't know when they are ever getting any.
 
Wii sales are prob down due to their supply. I still cannot find any in stores...
 
unless you're willing to buy one for $350 or more on ebay you aren't going to get one for a while. The ps3's downfall is it's price. Even if it is the cheapest blueray player out there it's still expensive as all hell.
