Bad video card?

Computer powers on, nothing on screen (monitor has been tested), no lights up on keyboard, case does not have a speaker so no beep codes. I did take the card out and re-seatted it and cleaned the inside of the case. Didn't work.

I think my video card finally took its last breath. Are there any tests I should do before I RMA?

After thinking about it, I have had my Q6600 OC'd at 3.2 ghz for over 3 years, maybe that is what has gone bad.

Thanks

yah, try another vidcard, lol. alternatively, try your vidcard in a known working system.

step #1 in any troubleshooting: drop any OC'd components back to stock
step #2 in any troubleshooting: swap parts until it works, when it works, you know whats broken

best educated guesses for whats wrong:
- PSU
- CPU

bad graphics adapter will usually halt the system, but you'll get beep codes and KB lights, in some cases it'll actually boot all the way into an OS, depending on whats bad on the adapter

If it turns out to be a fried cpu, what is a good idea for a Q6600 replacement on a GA-P35-DS3R?

Thanks

another Q6600?

otherwise the Q8--- chips should probably be ok picks

C2D's can work too (you won't see much, if any, performance difference in games, if you do encoding/video work you might want to avoid this option though)

Depends on how much you want to spend. Q9550 is probably the best you can still get, but if you want something equivalent look into the Q8000's or like the above poster said, a higher clocked C2Duo would be sufficient for gaming. If you are honestly going to replace it you might as well try to upgrade to P55 and sell your mobo and ram on the fs/ft.

Update: I installed a speaker on the mobo and tried powering on again, no beeps at all. The reset switch still works so that means there's communication between the mobo and the psu. Also, I thought there was a green light on the ga-p35-ds3r and I do not see it lit up anymore. Maybe I am wrong on that. Do most mobos have an indicator light on the board itself? When I had the network cable plugged into it there was a green light on the onboard lan.
