Using the swiftech apex kit. Got everything installed alright but my temps are sucking. At first the block was only touching in one tiny corner. Made my temps around 50 at idle. Looked like it should of burned up but it didnt. Now I removed the plate a stock heatsink clips on and have only the block on the front and the plate on the back so I know its making good contact (how could it avoid it with nothing obstructing it?. Temps are high 30s idle and 60 (where I set it to throttle) at load with 1.55 vcore. My friends XP90c is doing way better. Whats going on? All I can think of is that the water is kinda foamy with air bubbles and air patches form when the system is cut off. Anyone know why my temps suck?
 
bleed the air out of your system, depending on your setup your friend might be more efficient at lower overclocks. For instance, my and my friend are both running opteron 170s at the exact same specs...(2.4Ghz) and his runs cooler then mine on air with the stock cooler. This is because i have 2 7800GTs getting the coldest water first, then it goes to my CPU (i know i need to repipe the flow). But if we start adding voltage to our chips, his chip heats up way higher then mine does. Water cooling can only drop your temps to AMBIENT tempatures. just some food for thought.
