I have a Seagate 7200.10 320gb SATA and at first I had just one large 300gb partition. But then I got the Vista beta and used Gparted to split the drive into a 200gb partition for XP, 70gb for Vista, and somehow left 30gb unallocated.

I got annoyed with Vista so I formatted the partition and used Gparted again to add it back to my XP partition. It says it can't because of bad sectors. Can my drive really already have enough bad sectors to be a problem? It got it last summer, so I've owned it for about 7 months.

Is there anything I can do? Should I be worried about my drive's reliability? I haven't noticed any unusual sounds or anything, if it matters.

try using FDISK or even better Partition Magic

Vista Beta ? WHY?!?!

Use Seagate's drive testing utility (think it's called SeaTools) to do a complete diagnostic scan of the entire drive and figure out why a relatively new drive would have bad sectors. If SeaTools comes up with an error code and recommends contacting Seagate, do it and get a brand new drive.

Simple.

Ran a "Long Test" with the SeaTools bootdisk. Passed. Hmm...maybe I'll look into Partition Magic.

Partition Magic isn't going to do anything for you that GParted won't.
I've heard that Acronis makes a pretty good partitioning utility, I haven't used it myself, but you might want to take a look.
