I'm using an hdtv with the just scan option on. The 4850 is handling the scaling. Some resolutions it does as it should, others it centers, even if it is the correct aspect ratio. Card scaling is set to stretch in ccc.
Trying to play stalker cs isnt goin so well. Even the native res has black bars all around (first game ive had that happen, maybe its the game, maybe its a dx10.1 bug).

Anyone else have any issues like this? Do ATI drivers just have bad scaling in general? I didn't have any problems when I had it hooked up with a VGA cable, but that gave a bad picture with shadows behind everything. Since I changed to HDMI it looks much better but the scaling is just plain crappy. 1920x1080 scales perfect on desktop. 1770x1000 goes with black bars. Knock it down one more notch, it scales. There are odd resolutions throughout that don't scale even if they have the correct aspect ratio. Meanwhile ones that aren't the right ratio scale perfectly a lot of times. Have also had strange things happen after alt+tabbing. Was trying to play stalker at 1920x1080. It went centered with black bars. Alt tabbed out and my desktop was running in 1080i (at 30hz) also with black bars. Very confusing and confounding. Would be nice if ATI would fix it so it just works!
