I unwittingly RMA'd a perfectly fine EVGA GTX 660 Superclocked 2GB card because I thought I heard its fan making a loud noise upon start-up. It turned out to be my front case fan making the noise. Ironically, the replacement card sent to me is defective as far as I can tell. Some games run with extremely low FPS (State of Decay, Euro Truck Simulator 2, Grid 2, Alan Wake 1&2) but other games run just fine (X-Com, Deus X Human Revolution, Borderlands 2, Saints Row 4, Train Simulator 2014). Interestingly, EVGA Precision monitors the GPU clock at a constant 1150 MHz in-game when it is rated at only 1111 MHz boost - But I'm not overclocking. EVGA is willing RMA a second card to me but they are suggesting that it could be my operating system to blame. I worry that a second card might be defective in the same manner, but with my first RMA based on a wrong assumption, EVGA might balk at sending me a 3rd RMA. So I'm requesting technical ammunition to use with their tech support should it come to that. Any thoughts as to why, or if this card is bad? Thanks.
[edit] actually, GRID 2 is running ok - it seems that only DX9 games run poorly with this card.
