bad motherboard or bad memory?

I have recently been having some funny quirks with my computer so I did some troubleshooting. I have 4 1 gig sticks of patriot memory, I ran windows vista memory diagnostic and it says I have hardware problems so I try to run memtest on the sticks which I ran just fine when I originally installed the them 4 or 5 months ago. Now they will not run the memtest in any configuration, dual channel or even just a single stick in any of the memory ports.

All 4 can't be bad can they, is this a bad memory controller on the motherboard issue?

Any ideas would be appreciated.
