In the HS1 give away thread go to the HS1 video @ 2:45.
They try to say that the 50mm driver has 56% more area than the 40mm driver. here's the math they gave:

50mm/40mm = 1.56
 lols.

Corsair, it should read
40mm/50mm= .8, or a 20% increase in driver size.

Now that's not exactly correct either, especially if you want it to look good. What they should have done is go by AREA (as I assume 40 and 50mm are the diameter.

the 40mm driver have an area of 1256mm^2
the 50mm drivers have an area of 1962.5mm^2

the difference there (1256/1962.5)=.64, or a 36% increase in driver size.

Boo, Corsair, check your math!!!

Going back and rewatching the video, they write that 40/50mm are the are, but the first half of the above still holds.

No, the way they did their math is correct. Using linear size, what they should have gotten is that 50mm/40mm = 5/4 = 1.25, a 25% increase [(50-40)/40 = .25]. In terms of area, this becomes 1962.5mm^2/1256mm^2 = 1.56, or exactly what they claimed [(2500-1600)/1600 = 9/16 = .56; the pis cancel out].

For future reference:

The percent increase/decrease in some quantity is given by [(New value) - (old value)]/(old value) * 100.

Ah true, but as my second post said, they list the 50 and 40 as mm^2, area, so it's still only a 25% increase.
There's a reason I'm in law school, lol.

I'll chalk that up to writing it down wrong, because there's no way those drivers are a mere half-inch across.
