Ok, im formatting a computer and I tried installing windows xp pro, when doing so it says dmboot.sys corrupt please restart setup failed. I tried windows xp home and now it says dmio.sys is corrupted please restart. The comp has 320 mb ram and its 800 mhz. Could this be a hardware issue? Its a POS Compaq
 
Sounds like your CD-ROM drive is having trouble reading the discs. Also, download memtest and check out the memory.
 
Well come to think of it, the rom stops spinning after a certain amount of time...... but it did instal 95 and 98 properly it only has problems with xp.
