Bad for monitors?

I use PowerStrip to turn my gamma way up in CS so I can see people crouching in corners, etc. Does anyone have any idea if this extreme brightness can damage my monitor? Currently I'm only running a 17" Samsung so I'm not too worried either way but if I invested in something nicer, I'd like to know.

Nope. Why should it? A software gamma adjust is just equivalent to displaying a brighter pic. Does displaying a white screen damage your monitor?
