I have a dell 8300 with a crapy videocard, it is a 128MB DDR NVidia GeForce FX 5200. The proble is when i bring my computer back from standby sometimes the dell faltpanel screen says "in sleep mods press any key to continye" its running on vga because its only 15in. it only happens once a month.... it is the orginal screen that came with the computer and dell says theres a problem with the bigger screen and dvi but im runnign vga with a smaller screen.... any advise? note- when it returns from standby the second display works fine, (s video) Its not a continous problen but its annoying.....

wow, OK. that post is CONFUSING

it 1/2 sounds like you have dual monitors, yes/no?

the 15" dell is hooked to the DB15 (analog) connection (analog, not "VGA")
other screen is a bigger non-dell and is hooked to the DVI (digital).

if so, try running with the connections switched (15" on the DVI, "other" on the DB15). Might help. If it doesn't have the problem then...(might not be able to try this) try running single screen for a while (the 15" dell on the DB15). If you dont have a problem then, its related to the dual screen. If you do, its likely the card or the screen...

my 15in doesnt run on dvi and my second display is through s video, its a 27 in. tv i tried only one screen and still had the problem

Bad Dell?
I just wanted to say "Good Dell" for once. Today I ordered a 2001FP, later at night I find a coupon and call to get it applied to my order, well I find out its already been shipped, the same day I order. The customer help lady says when I get my monitor, I'll be credited back the amount as if I used the coupon code today.
Good Dell :p

And I hope your problem gets fixed, maybe the issue has to do with using S-Video out? Also which monitor do you have set as your primary? the 15 inch or the TV?

buy a vga to dvi adapter... and use that. if it still does it... just use the fix

or actually.. use the dell fix anyway. it would probably work
