I just ordered a whole slew of parts from Newegg for my new C2D build and, of course, after putting it all together, it doesn't work. The MB turns on, the fans work, there are no beeps, but theres nothing happening. The MB is an ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP P965 775. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pull it down to just video card, PSU, CPU, and ram then try again. Disconnect every drive, and pull every other card you might have if you haven't done so already. Check all your cables and connections, and make sure that your motherboard is installed into the chassis correctly. (Using proper screw mounts, etc).

your specs are too hard to read. but anyway, take everything out of the dam case. put the motherboard on the box it came in, or a piece of wood, or anything non conductive. DO NOT put it on the anti stat bag, or in your toilet(yet, at least). put in your cpu, hs/f, vid card and 1 stick of ram. connect all power connections to motherboard and vid card. connect vid card to monitor. use a piece of metal or flat blade screwdriver to short the 2 pins that the power button was connected to. it will spark a little, but dont worry. see if it will boot. if not, try the piece of ram in the other slots, and try the other piece of ram in all the slots also (one at a time tho). report back your results and any beep codes, whatever. that is your assignment for today.

edit whoops. i was typing while you were posting same stuff. he should remove board, i think, tho.

Thanks, guys, I will try that as soon as I get home and will post the results. :)

Its more than likely one of three things:

1) Your PSU.
2) Bad board.
3)Vidcard

I've seen dozens of complaints of this very thing with the P5B/P5Ws. Everytime its been one of those 3 items and most of the time its the board.

I'm pretty sure its not the GPU because I used that in another system this summer without a problem. I will see if I can find a different PSU to test it with if none of the other things work out. Thanks again.

my system had same problem. Do a memtest with that memory in another system. Or make sure your memory is compatible with your system...

The first thing I would try--if possible is another set of RAM.

I had the very same issue with the P5B deluxe wifi & OCZ RAM and it all came down to the RAM. I pulled 1 stick, and left only 1 stick in the first slot. As it turns out, it would boot. Swapped out that stick for the other, and it wouldn't boot. You might want to try this method as well.

There is a BIOS update for the P5B that allowed it to use the seemingly defective RAM, but the system just wasn't that stable. Ran memtest on the system one stick at a time and found a ton of errors with the bad stick--none with the good stick.

Unfortunately, my RAM is out on RMA so I've got my fingers crossed!!!

One thing I did learn this time is to make sure I get all of my components at the same time (or close to it). The place I got the RAM from wouldn't return it because it had been more than 15 days...

Well if ur lucky u may have just forgot to plug in the 12v power connector above ur cpu socket. I know when I reassembled my comp after modding my p5w dh and forgot that plug it did the same thing. Turned on, fans spun, no beep codes, and no video.

Holy fuck....adrift....you are right on.
I am an absolute ass! Thank you so much. As soon as I get home I'm going to do that.
I can't tell you how many systems I've built without a problem...and now to have made this kind of mistake? LOL.
I will post my results once I get home from work. Thanks again, man. I'm now 100% sure thats the problem.

Haha I am glad to have helped. I crapped my pants when I thought I fried my mobo :D
