I need some help before assembling.

I have purchased the bad axe 2 motherboard and about to complete my setup and turn the power on and install vista 64.

Setup

PSU: OCZ 700 WATT
CPU: Intel QX6700
MOBO: Intel D975BX2
RAM: Corsair XMS2 Dominator TWIN2X2048 4-4-4-12
HDD: 4x 150GB Raptor Drives
VGA: X1950 PRO 256MB (Temp Card until ATI R600)

I want to know if the latest bios from intel (BIOS Update 2634 [BX97520J.86A]) fix any problems that have been plaguing quad core or this motherboard.

As far as I know there are few problems with this board at all. There is the C1E bug and that is easily fixed with RMClock. Also the XBX2 is prolly the highest FSB clocker with C2Quad.

A few other probs but a super stable board. I am loving mine, just wish I could get about 20Mhz more on the FSB and it would be perfect:)

Check out my buddys supertim0r's thread at XS.

Thanx for the information

Another question regarding BIOS.

I am trying to find information regarding the bios, trying to find details on what each setting does. I have been on the intel sight and can't find nothing.

If you are going to overclock make sure you move the jumper near the bottom of the ram slots from its default position to position two or "configuration" after you power down. Enter the BIOS and disable watchdog on the first page when you restart. Turn off the power and return the jumper back to its default position. Enjoy.

Thanx for the input

I have vista installed now, but having trouble updating the bios.

I need to know if its worth it in updating the bios for this motherboard.

i have 2333 on the mobo, and i have been trying to update the bios but vista 64 keeps on giving me an system error or internal error.

What am i missing.

The only issue I have with 2333 is that when I disable the Marvel RAID/SATA controller, I get a solid HDD LED instaed of activity activation of LED. Very minor annoyance. Other than that nothing to worry about.

I have done some reading...

And i am in the maintence part of the bios and can't find this "watchdog" feature

Watchdog is added after 2333 so if you have 2333, it's normal.

Shrek, I'm having the same Bios error, how did you fix it? I'm running Vista Ultimate 64

this one, what did you do to fix it?

For some reason I couldn't get executable app through vista to update or work. So I did it through DOS using the Recovery method with the jumper removed.

Chek the manaul or intel website it will give you instructions on how to do it.
