Bad Axe 2 & 1333MHz

I was wondering - would the new Core 2 6x50s run on my Bad Axe 2? Newegg says it only supports 800/1066MHz processors.....

And..... Whats better - The Q6600 or the E6850 for the same price ($266)?
 
You could happily squeeze the necessary FSB to achieve 1333.

Regards the processor choice - depends on what you're doing. I'd most probably go for the Quad, but then my software choice can leverage 2+ threads.
 
Would the Q6600 not be as great for dual-core optimised apps - such as games? The thing is I also want to future proof my build just a little bit and they're both the same price.
 
Take your Q6600, set the FSB to 1333 and you'll have two 6850s. No question, go with the quad.

Last question, I promise. I know core2 procs have an advantage to having the ram in sync with the FSB - so i would see better performance from my 667Mhz ram with a 1333MHz bus. Is getting 800Mhz RAM worth the performance increase?

Try it with your 5300 Kingston, its rated for up to a 1325Mhz FSB, which would allow you to run at 1333MHz 1:1 ratio. If you wanted to, you could feed the kingston with a little more voltage which might allow you to overclock your ram to 6400 speeds. If not then get some pc6400 ram.
 
1:1 in terms of frequency isn't really relevant. What you basically want is to make the memory bottleneck as small as possible. In other words up the frequency to get as much as possible real world throughput of data in combination with low latency.

The differences however in actual application performance between regular or faster ram are negligible in most cases and certainly in gaming. Having stated that, I did notice a certain improvement in "snap" in my system depending on the method I used to overclock with...perhaps I'm just imagining things...but 3333Mhz + 1333 FSB + 1000Mhz 2:3 RAM felt better to me compared to leaving the FSB and RAM at default and my CPU at ~3725Mhz by jacking up the multiplier.
