Bad 5870 or w7 Driver issues?

I just got my 5870, did the standard uninstall, driver sweeper in safe mode in W7 64Bit.

Now after I put in the card and booted it up, W7 installed it as a standard graphics adapter, no matter what I do, It will not take the ATi driver, now Do i have a melon card or am I missing something?

Previous I was running 2x GTX 285 and I was hoping to get into the eyefinity gaming arena but it doesn't look like my first foray is very exciting so far.

Help please as I'm about to give up and call up newegg for an RMA tomorrow AM.
 
geez try a fresh install before you give up so easily ! Try the safemode drive sweeper routine as Nvidia to ATi seems to be problematic. Also try turning off any overclock as a last resort.

On his CPU for example? Why? If he was responsible when he overclocked it and ran Linpack it would be totally stable anyways. :)

Yeah in this day of easy overclocks not all are 100% stable even if they appear to be :cool:
 
id say safemode, driversweeper.reboot. make sure you clean out the old nvidia video drivers. a fresh install should detect the card. what about the mb bios? maybe it needs updating? seems odd the card wouldnt be detected once the ati drivers are installed.
