system specs

Asus p4c800-e
p4 3.0c @ 3.6
kingston hyperx pc4000 - 2x 256 dual channel
ati radeon 9800pro AIW
soundblaster audigy 2

So here's the deal, i'm getting a 3k in 3dmark03 and 11k in 3dmark01

I'm using the 4.7 catalyst drivers. 8x agp is on, fast writes are off, d3d is set to quality but that shouldn't matter. Vsync is disabled.

Anyone else encountered a problem like this?

Wow...

That is pretty low guy. You should be up around 19k at least from what I can tell in 01, and probably 5-6k in 03.

Check your bios. Make sure memory is set in sync at decent timings, make sure you're not loaded with spyware (download adaware), check your cpu usage, make sure the cpu isn't throttling from heat, etc etc

i'm at 30 c water cooled, timings, not sure, I have it all at default as of right now

and no spyware

I run spybot every few days

When I had a 2.4C @ 3.2/3.3 and a Asus P4C800-E, along with a 9800 Pro, I was benching near 20k in 01. Something is amiss. Go over your bios settings. I seem to recall some sort of NB strap or some setting that could severely affect performance on that board.

[Edit] - Also, make sure you don't have AA/AF on. Set those to app preference, then make sure both are disabled under 3dmark.

ur scores are about half of wat u should hav got.. maybe format/reinstall windowz..

Just formatted :)
ran intel chipset install utility, everything is set fne that i know of

Did you ever think maybe the bios reset itself and somehow your cpu is lower than what it really is? Verify it's speed under cpu-z.

Thats were your wrong :)
Lower it and Open GL to Optimal Performence and you will see a hudge jump :p
right click on background, click properties, click settings, advanced, trouble shoot, make Hardware Acceleration Full, then click 3D, click on Direct3D, make it set for Optimal Perfomence, then click OpenGL, and have it set for Optimal Performance. Then try again. You wont notice any difference in the graphics via setting it to optimal performence either. Give it a try and let me know your score.

Have you installed your chipset drivers, esp agp? Not having this would lead to a low score. I had this on the last box I built.

try turning your image quality settings down, i gaurintee thats whats lowering your score. And there is what so ever no difference to the human eye between high performence and high quality

there's a big difference in quality for me, and score has never changed from quality to performance

just run 3dmarks with performance n see wat score u get first so we can find out wat the problem is.

otherwise post more info, did u just get 9800pro? is it 128bit? if not have u ever got high score b4? check n c if ur video card is runnin at rated speed, agpx8, try diff driver, etc..

Install your chipset's AGP drivers to use your 3d card's texture acceleration.

it's a 9800pro aiw 256 bit, also

does intel inf update install the agp drivers?

Not sure, but a quick way to check if your system is not in retard mode, run DXDIAG and check for AGP Texture Acceleration to be enabled. It has to be enabled or your system will suck.

Note: Chipset AGP drivers must be installed BEFORE your Catalyst.
