Hi guys..
Im looking for some advice here, i have a home server, which is currently running Win10 (to get backblaze backups)..
This server sees some traffic from almost my entire family backing up their data, while i live with my GF all of the data is backed up via the internet.
The amount of users continue to climb, so im looking for a better strategy surrounding this, there's really no true budget for this as every family member pays for it, and basically i can "set the price" as i like..
However, to avoid causing too much hassle i would like to solution to be as close to free as possible.
Right now, the entire operation runs on a Gene6 FTP Server on the server, where the users have Cobian installed which are doing the backups to the FTP server..
However, lately i have been seeing some insane amounts of data coming in, one users is for instance saving 1 copy of their data, which is a total of 11GB but it is using almost 200 on the server, upon investigating it seems to Cobian keeps uploading files that are already backed up, so essentially the same files are there lots and lots of times..
This is also something i see from some of the other users that are uploading files, so im looking for alternatives, i would like to have some kind of professional solution as i might expand this and sell it to other potential users aswell outside of my family..
Right now i have looked at Ahsay, but im not quite following their pricing strategy so i have send them an email about it and are waiting for a response..
I have also looked at cloudbacko which is also an Ahsay product which can handle backups to FTP, but i have yet to actually buy it and test it properly.
I can setup a VM for this type of thing, with dedicated storage, but the hostnode needs to run on Windows 10, as im backing up everything to backblaze + Google for redundancy, well unless there's a better way at handling it..
The drives are enterprise grade running in raid6 (6x2T)..
Could someone give me an idea here?
