OK, not sure if this is the right place, but here we go.....
Two questions.
First, is there any software out there that will allow you to make an image of a partition without taking the system offline? I've got several servers that I would like to make an image of the OS partition at least once per month, but taking the server down for the 30-45 minutes to make a ghost image isn't possible (24/7 healthcare business). Something that can be scheduled would be the best (for minimal performance impact in the middle of the night).
Second, anyone know of a way to backup Outlook PST files (using Arcserve) when the use has left Outlook open? I've got multiple directors that refuse to close Outlook at the end of the work day, but who insist that their PST files be stored on the network and backed up
Repeatedly telling them that the software will not back them up if Outlook is left open (even with the Backup Open Files option) doesn't seem to fly since I recently got bitched at because someone lost their PST file and we have never gotten a good backup of it. Even though I had the documentation showing multiple warning emails I was still told by "administration" that it is my responsibility to make sure it doesn't happen again, not the user's.
Hopefully someone can help. Heck, even a VB script I can install to force Outlook to close at a set time might work (good old brute force method).
