Backup ESXi...on the cheap?

converter to restore, and yes, it works, although there are better scripts that could be written ;)

I use a custom powershell script and vmware consolidated backup on a SAN attached backup proxy, works like a top!

cheap is a relative term, considering a 4Gb fiber HBA like I'm using would probably not be considered cheap...
 
just to throw this in. Veeam, at the request of VMware, stopped providing a free backup solution for ESXi FREE via their "Veeam Backup and Replication"... you can read about that here.

i was curious to see how well their free FastSCP performed vs. WinSCP over at SourceForge and after installing it it refers to itself as "Veeam Backup and FastSCP". haven't had the chance yet to put it to use but i went through configuring a scheduled backup job and for all intensive purposes it does seem to allow one to configure a backup routine and provide restoration with ESXi FREE 4.0.0 Update1.
