I have a Intel 80gb SSD in my desktop and just bought a Crucial M4 256gb for my MBP but it turns out that they do not play well together. Any help with that would be awesome as I would rather go that route. Question though - Is there a good/reliable way to backup and restore my Intel system to my Crucial drive without reinstalling everything fresh? I don't ever have any issues with my desktop and hate to mess with it...

Hi, eth3ton,

The easiest way to clone the old drive to the new drive, in my opinion, is to use the APRICORN ASW-USB-25 USB 2.0 to SATA Adapter and the software that comes with it. Others will suggest Acronis or other cloning software.

If you don't use your optical drive, you can do what I did and replace it with an optical bay adapter. It lets you put a second SATA drive in your laptop. I put a 512GB Samsung 830 in the standard location and a 1TB drive in the optical bay adapter. In any case. you can use the free version of SuperDuper to clone your drive from one bay to the other and avoid the grind of waiting for it to complete via USB 2.0.
