Backlight bleeding or what? Dell 2007WFP

Hi,
I just got 2007WFP and I'm a bit scared that this might be a faulty monitor, what do you think:
when I tried all black screen, there is a bit more lighter area in the lower right corner when I watch just in front of the monitor BUT if I look from side I see red or blue or yellow glow. :eek:

When you look at it from the sides you're going to see a shift in color and brightness regardless of what is on screen. Thats a side effect of LCD technology and why you see people talking about 'viewing angles'.

Straight-on is all that you should be concerned about really, does look like you have quite a bit of backlight bleeding in the corners though. If it looks as bad in person as it does in the picture then i'd suggest calling them and getting a replacement.
 
The only angle you really need to worry about is the straight ahead...and from your pic it looks like an average amount of backlight bleed (every lcd I've seen or used has this to some degree) but if it doesn't bother you in your windows desktop, websites or games then I wouldn't worry about it. You could do endless rma's with Dell until you're 80 trying to get the perfect monitor and still come up short.
 
I understand but the viewing angle is very limited, if I for example look movies I can see that red glow even when I'm sitting here (and move my head just a little bit). I think I'll try to replace it but then again I might get worse unit. :confused:
 
That purpleish glow from the sides is perfectly normal on the dell lcds.
as for the backlight bleeding... yours isn't that bad.... mine's just like that (bottom right corner) if I take a digi pic and on a black screen, but for everyday use, I don't notice anything.
I've gone through 4 replacements trying to get one that has no bleed at all, but every one I received had bleeding in at least one of the corners.
 
Well, I decided to call Dell, I paid a lot of this monitor after all so it should not have backlight problems (right lower corner is getting annyoing when watching films), it seems that service varies a lot depending who's serving you (I read that some people have got replacement display and they have had a chance to compare which one to keep). The guy just said he will research the problem and will call me back. :rolleyes:

"Research and call you back" translates to go home from work and forget about the call hoping he doesn't answer the phone when you call again in a couple days. :p If the backlight bleed really bothers you watching videos then you should rma....just keep in mind that you may get one back that has a good backlight but a completely different problem.

That's very good backlighting but even so you can see a little bleed at the top if you move your head to the side a few degrees. Most backlight bleed only shows up on a completely black screen and may only be noticeable if you watch really dark movies.

its worlds and away better than that dell, lets be honest here.
 
Well, they did call and I'm getting brand new one from the factory (the guy said) so it takes two weeks. Fine by me. :)

Do they cross ship or do you have to send your current panel in first? Keep in mind that the one you have now was new from the factory also (I assume) and it will be sheer luck getting a completely perfect panel.
