Bought a new Samsung 2494SW yesterday, and just noticed while watching a darker movie, there is backlight bleeding on the top portion... it's pretty much visable from end to end, however it's about 1/2 cm deep from the top.
On the bottom, it's the same thing... maybe less...
Should I take it back, and will the store even exchange it? Is this considered a defect or just something typical for TN panels? Thanks in advance.

Where did you purchase the monitor from? If it's local like Best Buy, they can exchange it. I did that with my HP W2207H 22" monitor. The backlight bleeding on top and bottom was just bad. TN panels I notice you will see backlight bleeding on the top and bottom.

Bought it from a local PC chain which has 5 small stores. I've got a feeling the manager or whom-ever is going to debate with me. Just curious if it'll be worth the hasle of packing it back up, and taking it back to the store to "try" and get it exchanged as of course the tech will probably tell me it's normal. Is the bleeding a hit and miss thing? or are the Samsung's usually pretty good?

It's a hit or miss thing with these TN monitors. You may 1 have one that hardly has backlight bleed while the other model has backlight bleeding.

The bad thing about exchanging it is the fact that the monitor you exchange with may have the same or even worse backlight bleeding.

Was thinking about that too... don't want to fight for an exchange only to have the next one worse... I should have them unpack them all and then I can choose :D
