Backing up folder?

Hi,

Is there any ways to compress a folder and back up all the data within it? Is there any programs out there that acts like a ghost utility software that creates an image of the folder instead of a partition or drive?

The thing is i dont want to make an image of my entire 80 GB drive with all the programs, games and useless files that are installed now. I want to reformat soon and create seperate organized partitions for it after i backup my files.

So is there any software to backup or create an image of the folder or data i want before i reformat? If i backup all my data/mp3s onto CDs they take way too much time and CD-Rs.

uhh... maybe compress folder with winrar max compression
 
If you're just planning on reorganizing the folders, I would just copy-and-paste it to another computer (or partition) and move it back afterwards.

But i only have 1 partition for now as a whole 80GB drive so i need to somehow backup all the videos/data/mp3s on it. Using CD-Rs would take too much time and money is there any faster solution?

I know it was stupid of me not to create seperate partitions in the first place because i wasn't familiar on how to do it and how it works until i ask about it. However, i do plan on creating a more organized partition for my next reformat to keep all my data and operating system different.
 
Another option might be to use GNU Parted (qtparted for the graphical version) for Linux. You can always download a Linux Live-CD (like Knoppix or System Rescue CD .) System Rescue CD is only about 100 megs or so.

You can attempt to resize your main partition then make a new one for your other files. Be weary though, NTFS support under Linux is still experimental so balance the risks before you decide. You DO risk losing all your data. The other option is to get Partition Magic for Windows, but that costs money.
