Backing up Data

I have 3 Hard drives on my computer right now. 2 of them are in a RAID0 configuration. They are partitioned for the OS, GAMES, and FILES. The 3rd hard drive (non-raid) is mainly files and a backup of important files from the raid.

For most all programs and games, I do not need it all backed up. I am only interested in backing up the savegame directories. Everything else can be reloaded from CD.

I am looking for some good backup software that I can setup a scedule and tell it to go into XXXXX directory and backup any files that have not been backed up since last time. I would also like to be able to setup multiple backup scedules. So that it can copy the criticle data from my main computer to my secondary computer, and vise-versa.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Well I tried "Backup MyPC" but apparently you cannot do differential or incremental to another harddrive with that software. It allows them to removable media only.... or full backups to harddrive. So this piece of shit software is going back to the store.

Now I will try either Retrospect or Backupexec. If you have any exp with either of these please let me know

Umm, I think the built-in XP backup util will do everything your asking for. I've got it doing incremental backups from 1 drive to another on a daily schedule and full backups on a weekly schedule with verify. Runs like a champ and took abot 2 minutes to configure.

Thanks for the advice. Will XP also backup network drives or from 1 comp to another?

Also doing that. I'm backing up folders from a Novell server to a Win2K server and vis-versa using nothing but the default XP backup util with Scheduled Tasks. The Novell box also has a 80G DLT tape drive (using Backup Exec).

[edit] The XP box running the backup is in the middle of my 2 servers in this case.

I like redundancy.

I like redundancy.

I think you can backup network drives with the ntbackup that comes with XP. It is basically a stripped down version of backupexec. You should also be able to save the backup file to another computer.

I do this at work with my workstations. I back them up to each other. Just map a network drive and have it backup to there.
