Here's the situation:
The company I work for currently burns completed jobs to DVDs, and stores them in binders. One set of binders on site for easy retrieval (old jobs are frequently used as a basis for new ones), and one set off site in case anything happens to the on site ones. The amount of data for newly completed jobs that need to be backed up ends up being around 50 GB a week, and these DVDs are supposed to be kept indefinitely.
Now, I know DVDs suck as a long term storage solution. Before DVDs they used CDs (going as far back as 1998), and now many of those old CDs are unreadable (doesn't help that they used paper labels back then). The company would like to switch to some sort of more permanent/reliable long term storage solution.
Now, I really don't know much about what businesses use for this sort of thing. Some people are leaning toward using hard drives and just shelving them when they're full, but I think this is a horrible idea from a reliability standpoint. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
