Well, after many months, I've decided to get back in the folding game for a bit...

However, my laptop is having problems with the GPU2/GPU3 client. (Lenovo T61 w/ Nvidia NVS140)

Keeps reporting unstable / EUE.

I've tried a number of different drivers, however all with the same result. Anyone else running a Lenovo T61?

Is it even worth trying to run the GPU client on it?

theres a way to get it to work.. but i wouldnt waste the time... you have to use a specialty mobile quadro driver from nvidia's site..

" I tried to fold on it I only got 252PPD." <-- from a thread over at the overclockers forum and that was over a year ago.. with the current WU's at 252 PPD you wouldnt even remotely finish a gpu WU near the deadline.. minimum is about 1500-2000 PPD..

As said below i wouldn't bother with the laptop for gpu folding, but for cpu folding it would be good,

I take it you sig rig is folding as well -if not let that rip and you should be good for 10k PPD

Yea, I'll use it for folding but the smp client doesn't play well with my gpu client so 1 instance of the classic till I can get the smp stable. (temps are great so go figure)

This is my 'everything' box so I can't bog it down 24/7 due to work and projects, but I'll probably keep it folding at least 12 hours a day when I'm not at it.

Smp client and a cap at 80% utility, windows will auto set it to idle, should be good no?

just run the SMP client.. make sure its on idle process and you will never notice its running.. the GPU client though depending on what your doing you will probably notice it running..

Yea, I notice the GPU client running during my working hours (I work in multimedia), as for the SMP, I'll try to gimp it down to 75% on both my laptop and main rig and see how stability goes.

My wife's laptop will probably just run the standard client since it turns on and off a lot during the day. Probably have it only work the small WUs.

yeah id just leave the GPU client off while your working and turn it on when you go to sleep.. should finish 2-3 WU's during the night..
