So my Nexus 7 2013 died the other day, figued i'd go back to iPad this time.... Always enjoyed using my iPad 3, and 4, however did not like 10" screens (mini at the time was a twinkle in their eyes), the first mini didnt impress me at all....

Anyhow, got a couple question...

Picked it up today, its on 8.1.1 which is still jailbreakable, I had some purchased jail break apps last go around, however with a different apple ID (Honestly dont remember how its tied to me via cydia), is Cydia still the primary?

Is it worth lookign into jailbreaks? (Gestures was the big thing I was using and some of the side bars IIRC)...


Also, I have had it for like 10 minutes, and I am missing QI already (knew this going in), anyone have any experience with something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Charger-Receiver-Lighting-Devices/dp/B00Q30M7JS and if it works at all.


For what its worth, I got the 64gb Cell+Wifi version, going to be picking up a speigen case (via amazon) and a glass screen protector (Love it on my nexus 5 and S4 before it).

I've not really found a reason to jailbreak in the last few OS releases. I'm sure there are a few benefits, but it's a pain to keep up with the jailbreak seen. (As always, it depends on what you are doing with your device.)
 
Same here.. I quit messing with jailbreak a long while back and I haven't really missed it. I guess it's down to what missing features you feel that you need.
 
The only real reason to JB at this point is for visual changes. If you really feel like you MUST customize your home screens, change icons, and add widgets, then JB. If you don't need/want any of that, then JB is not really necessary.
 
I can't use the iPad at night without f.lux and Dim. Jailbreaking is essential to me for these apps alone.
 
Cydia should be linked through your email (gmail) or Facebook. It doesn't use your AppleID.

Those Qi chargers look horrible because they take up the lightning port and you'd have to remove the device from your case to use it with a cable...unless you intend to never use it with a cable. I'd be skeptical that it provided enough juice to charge an iPad while the screen is on, too.
 
Got it up and going. got my intellscreenX back and a few more tweaks and loving it.


as for the charger mope, I dont plug it in other than to charge as it stands, and I do that when im not using it anyhow lol. But ya, the only downside is just that you have to remove it form the case (All my media is via plex or play music subscription)
 
I've gotten quite attached to my iPad Mini 2. The retina screen is excellent for reading and watching videos, which is about all I wanted out of a tablet. It's a nice complement to my iPhone 6+. I still need a laptop for any serious work on the road.
 
Jailbreak are not worth it anymore in my opinion. Rather have a stable working OS than some extra features that I dont use.
 
I always jailbreak for ad blocking, swipe selection and activator.

However on an iPad, it is less 'worth it' as it functions pretty good as is, and has less annoyances that would bug me on a phone. I still run iOS6 on my iPhone and iPad since its the most stable and has the best stuff.

You know you can't get new versions of many apps with iOS 6? All new app submissions are supposed to be done with the new version of XCode that only support iOS 7 and iOS 8 right now. So I suppose this really depends on what your definition of "best stuff" is :D

I can still update Pandora/Kik and a few other apps that don't need the newest iOS. Looks like even FB needs the newest, but it give me an option to download the newest one for iOS 6. By best stuff I mean jailbreak wise, the app selection is indeed dwindling.
